"Ichiko lived in a big city, but goes back to her small hometown, Komori, located on a mountain in the Tohoku region."
The movie features the self-sufficient living of Ichiko, depending on the natural seasonal foods around her home and village.
I got interested with the movie when I heard the news that our beloved Kpops are doing their version of this movie, starring Kim Tae-ri and Ryu Joon-yeol which I guess to be released either 2017 or 2018.
I learned that this film is based on a Japanese manga (slice-of-life) written and illustrated by Daisuke Igarashi
Review:
Komori(Little Forest) is a small settlement in a village somewhere in the Tohoku region......
At the start, I thought the movie is going to be a boring one but I quickly enjoyed the introductory part where Ichiko is riding her bicycle downhill going to Komori...very refreshing with all the greeneries and fresh air.
The movie gets interesting when Ichiko started preparing her seasonal dishes, for Summer and Autumn part . These are my favorite of Ichiko's dishes and adventure for these seasons:
The story is somewhat on the melodrama side but still very light, not complex and delivered clearly although it is mostly a flashback moments.
I love the movie because it is refreshing and wish I could have the time, gift of patience, and endurance in planting, sourcing out and preparing my foods. It also shared with the viewers a part of the culture of Japan and can entice people to discover more of their rich-endowed nature.
I'm giving it a 5 of 5 rating, well because I can repeat it again and again and learned many things about natural foods.
If you like nature, you'll love this. If you like cooking, you'll love this. If you like the idea of living naturally like planting your own crops, you'll love this. If you just want to sit back and relax and get out of your usual kdrama viewing, you'll love this. If you want to get inspired to live healthy, you'll love this.
And if you want to know what are the Summer and Autumn dishes prepared by Ichiko...go watch this movie! and tell us at the comment below your favorite dish(es)...
Quotable Quotes:
"I mean about the things that you've actually experienced and done yourself. And what you felt or thought as a result of them. Those are the things that you can responsibly talk about. And people who can do that for all sorts of things are the ones you respect. They're the ones you can trust." -- Yuuta
