 Release: 2003

This is love story which transcends the time, it can be described as the contrast of emotions of being happy and heartbroken , with being gloomy and hopeful. The story tells of love between Joo-Hee (Son Ye-Jin) and Joon-Ha that is not tragic in a way but rather a reality that not all love are meant to be fulfilled and how true love will find its way between the love of Ji-Hye (Son Ye-Jin) and Sang-Min (Jo In-Sung). It also teaches the value of true, loyal friendship and proved that true love is not selfish in the character of Tae-Soo (Lee Ki-Woo).

Son Ye Jin excellently portrayed the roles of both the daughter (Ji-Hye) and mother (Joo-Hee) in which you can distinguish the differences in their characters, not over acting just enough to justify the different roles. But the love story of the modern generation should have been given a little more emphasis just to establish the connection between them. A dash of additional sweetness doesn't hurt you know. The funny moments between friends Tae-Soo and Joon-Ha are also classic , you just have to watch those parts and see. The movie soundtrack is also good both for the old and modern setting, somewhat nostalgic.

This movie is for those looking for a taste of a classic love story, a kind of love that can be told from generation to generation ( somewhat like your mother or grandmother telling of their past love stories...). Just be ready, the movie is like a needle pinching your heart. Not overly done but sure to get your emotions pumped up a bit. In this modern age, you would be envious in the old generation's (grandmother's generation) way of communicating their love thru love letters and writing their diaries using their pen and notebooks....a true classic experience...opening their old yellowish, rustic love letters.

It will bring you into tears at the end of the story once you have figured out everything what had happened to Joo-Hee and Joon Ha. I gave the movie 4 Ramen for good storyline, for the portrayal of the characters especially Son Ye-Jin and how the film is artfully made.
